A year ago, we founded Zola Books with the idea of building a dedicated site where book lovers can connect with each other and with the writers, magazines, bloggers, book clubs and booksellers they love – empowering everyone who’s passionate about books in one space where it’s ONLY about books. There are sites where you can buy books, sites where you can talk about books, and sites where you can read what professional reviewers or bloggers have to say about books. You can hunt down your favorite author’s blog or Twitter feed. But there is no single site where readers, writers, booksellers, reviewers, bloggers and publishers can gather in one place to connect naturally around the books they love. These social connections form in the real world at bookstores, book clubs, and more. Why can’t they happen online?
Welcome to Zola, the future of eBooks.
And this is only the beginning.
Soon, the social site you see today will become a site that sells eBooks. When it does, you will be able to buy and read eBooks on most web-enabled devices—from the iPad to the Nook to the Kindle—and to connect with other people inside those books. It’s social like you’ve never seen it, perfect for book clubs, friends who read together, classes, and anyone who likes to feel part of the larger world of readers.
So come on in! Please look around, see who’s on the site, and let us know who you’d like to see. Week by week, we’ll be adding new features and functionality—including eBooks from top publishers (and some available exclusively from Zola)—as we work to make our vision of a rich, vibrant destination for connection and community for all book lovers real.
